inside the OuTpaTienT mind...

The history of my Gossamer avatar
by OuTpaTienT
Here's the very first Gossamer avatar. As you see,
he too once supported that other web site.
But like so many us, he made the transition to
a better home where he has been much happier.
He has celebrated lots of holidays here. Like Christmas...
...and New Year's Eve...
...and New Year's Day...
...and Easter.
For Halloween he dressed up like his good friend Warthog.
After that Gossy attempted to become even more 3D.
This was very stressful for Gossy and he decided to take a sabbatical.
Upon his return, Gossy found himself in
a whole new environment...the digital world.
At first it seemed as though he was just
out of control amongst the binary data flows.
He tried every which way to perform his normal avatar duties,
...but he just kept getting swept up in all the data.
Then, a sign of hope. We got just a glimpse
of Gossy seemingly under his own control.
In typical monster fashion, Gossy can't resist showing off.
The ham.
Oh dear. Did you see those eyes? He's mad about something.
Oh. I see he doesn't like the binary. All those 1's and 0's can
get a little frustrating for a monster mind.
Well look at that. He's overcome his anger and appears to be
manipulating the data with the greatest of ease (and showing off again).
LOL. Gossy says this is his impression of an Enron accountant.
Just what will the little furry orange guy be up to next?
Stay tuned to find out.

The Gossy Saga Continues...
Still
by OuTpaTienT
After playing around with the binary for a while,
Gossman grew bored with the whole idea,
and decided to take care of the digits
like a "real" monster would...with a gun.

One down, Zero to go...
And here's the last we seen of 'ol Zero.
Looks like Goss-Hog rolled 'em out back
behind the woodshed.

After that only rumors exist of the
hideous demise Zero suffered.
Then, before you knew it, it was time for Halloween again.
This year G dressed as his favorite monster, Radiskull.
Just before Halloween, Goss' buddy Knothead
got a surprise visit from Goss. I think we have some video of this,
let's watch.

Knothead, already in his Halloween get-up answers a knock at the door.
But instead of scaring anyone, Knot gets a good scare himself.
Ya see, Knot sometimes forgets just how large the fuzzy orange guy is.
Hey! Where'd he get that zero?
Obviously Goss is going to make quick work of any remaining evidence.
I think it's safe to say, the mystery of zero will remain a mystery.
Soon it was turkey time again.

What's with this obsession with guns Goss?
You're scaring me. But I guess that is your job.
And after feasting for days on turkey,
Gossman felt a nap coming on.
So he slept.
...and slept.
...and slept.
Right on through Christmas.
(But at least he had dreams of Xmas past.)
Come on Goss, you missed New Years.
Wake up already!

Well, good morning sleepy head.
Nice of you to join us.

Boy oh boy. Do we wake up with an attitude or what?
What did that Santa smiley ever do to you?

So, what exactly are you trying to do here Goss?
Make smilies whine,
or make smiley wine?

Behind the scenes with Gossamer

Here's the Gossman with a good friend of his. They go way back.
Here's Goss at work doing what monsters do best,
scaring people (and ducks).
Here he is running away. Yes, monsters get scared too.

History and some out-takes...

Here's the original photo of Gossy used to make the first avatar.
Here is a role that he really likes, the foot tapper. This role may still make
an appearance someday, if Gossy has anything to say about it.
Here he is just before his breakdown. Casting all that shadow and blinking
was just too much for the little guy.
And then when he attempted the moving shadow, it pushed him over the edge. But Gossy's not the kind of monster to let a little thing like a nervous breakdown stop him. He was back in no time.
This is the famous futuristic 3D-grid fade-in from nowhere effect
that Gossy and his director never quite perfected. Maybe one day little guy.
And here's another, earlier attempt at a fade-in.

So there you have it. A look at Gossamer and his life, as an avatar and beyond. Whether scaring the daylights out of ducks, or just juggling some numbers around, this is one monster you don't need to be scared of (...unless, that is, you're a duck.)
